Novak Motors is hiring a Shop Foreman/Lead Technician for our New Service Location in Farmingale, NY. We need a motivated individual who can help us build a team. We are in the process of obtaining approvals to completely renovate our facility and build a State of the Art Service Center for our customers. PURPOSE:Â The Shop Foreman/Lead Technician is responsible for (1) ensuring the proper repair and servicing of all the vehicles taken in by the Service Department, and (2) Provide direct on-the-job assistance to Technicians, inspecting jobs for proper completion, and working with Service Advisor, Trainer, and Technician on repeat repair visits. It is expected that this position will also perform vehicle repair and maintenance work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Maintain a high level of product and technical knowledge and practical experience through the study of technical manuals and bulletins, classroom training, communication with factory service representatives and actual hands-on experience.
- Provide timely on-the-job assistance to Technicians experiencing difficulty diagnosing and/or repairing vehicles.
- Review diagnostic results of any Technician performing new and/or unfamiliar diagnostic procedures, before major repairs are begun.
- Provide diagnostic and test drive assistance on the service lane as needed by the service sales staff.
- Personally quality check and/or road test the work performed on specific vehicles directed by service management or service advisor.
- Assist the service sales staff in properly documenting Repair Order complaint, cause and correct information.
- Perform various administrative tasks as directed by management.
- Keep shop equipment in safe operating condition. Stay informed about new equipment available in the marketplace, and be able to make objective recommendations regarding the purchase of such equipment.
- Direct the maintenance of shop "cleanliness" in accordance with company housekeeping policies and management directives.
- Coordinate repairs as necessary on the entire physical plant.
- Report to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare or integrity of the dealership, its personnel or customers.
- Receive Repair Orders from computer terminal and take vehicle to stall areas.
- Perform work as outlined on Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts. Inform service advisor if vehicle is down awaiting parts, and pursue special ordering of parts, if appropriate.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Three years of experience in an auto repair facility)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of dealership's computer systems
- Ability to collaborate with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time
- Ability to collaborate with other dealership personnel
- Must have valid in-state driver's license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record and safe driving habits in order to drive both customer vehicles and company vehicles
- Must be insurable

- Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
